Well it has been awhile since I posted on Blogger. The last time was about 5 years ago but I am not sure. The blog was entitled waiterextraordinaire as at that time I was working at the Keg in Brampton Ontario for 7 1/2 years.
When I left there I may have still had the blog but hardly posted. When I left the Keg I went to where I worked previously at a fine dining restaurant called Terrace on the Green. The main reason for going back there was I could make more money because of circumstances that were out of my control. Another Keg opened up not far away that cut our business at the same time as a very popular Mandarin Restaurant with a huge buffet. This really killed our business. I noticed after time the regulars stopped coming. I use to be a closer in the dining room starting at 6:15 and in the past use to be busy right till 11:00 but at the end the dining room was closing down at 9:00. I would get one round of sitting in my section and that would be it. Meanwhile the bills kept getting higher in the condo townhouse. I was working lunches at a busier Keg further away and would have quit the one I was at to work there full time. I went out and got another vehicle to do just that. But unfortunately when I had decided to take that action as soon as I got the car the manager that worked there got transferred and another one replaced her.
That proved to be unlucky as the new manager who happened to be my first GM at the Brampton Keg decided to stick with his full time staff and that left me out of any shifts at this Keg. That was the end really and I hung around at the Brampton Keg for a bit longer but it was no use. So off I went back to the Terrace to become their a la carte guy. After 8 years I was welcome back and happy to be there. The money was better. Nothing had changed either which made my return easier. I thought I was going to work at that Keg for a lot longer but it wasn't meant to be.
So while at the Terrace at the start things went very well. Then in March I had to go for a hernia to be taken out and that is when things began to go south you could say.
I will continue this tomorrow I promise...
